I know I joined the party too late, but I hope this is the right place to ask this) I tried to find Wiseguy transcript (or subtitles) but couldn't find anything. Does it exist somewhere? Or at least transcript of Sonny Steelgrave arc if not the whole series?

Cross-posted from the community on LJ:

Hello all. I am organizing a group watch/re-watch of the Steelgrave arc of Wiseguy and Generation Kill for the summer: The Armed and In Love Summer Watch Party!

This is intended to be a fun way for those of us who already love one or both of these shows to enjoy them again and to introduce some new fans to the awesomeness that is Wiseguy (and Generation Kill).

For those of you unfamiliar with Generation Kill, it’s an HBO miniseries from 2008 based upon a book that was written by a reporter who was embedded with a battalion of the U.S. marines as they invaded Iraq. It’s really quite brilliantly done, a subtle treatment of complex issues and characters. I also have to say that it is not what I was expecting before I watched it in that it is neither pro-war, nor anti-soldier.

I’m told that if you subscribe to HBO you can get GK on demand, or the DVDs are available via Netflix. Episodes are also available for $5 each on itunes (7 eps total). If none of those methods work for you, I’m sure we can find another way to get you the goods.

The viewing begins with Wiseguy on June 11th and Generation Kill on June 14th. I've created a community where weekly episode discussion and recs and/or creative prompts will be posted: [community profile] armedandinlove (mirrored on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] armedandinlove).

Then at the end of the viewing in early August, we'll do a fic exchange challenge which I'll also pimp here when the time comes.

Please come on by and join in the fun! This is very informal, so don't feel like you can't join if you're not interested in Wiseguy, or you don't have time to participate every week, or whatever. The more the merrier! All contributions welcome!

You should pardon the expression.

Now they have a headline that reads: Big secret the FBI was keeping.

I didn't read the story. I already know this story. *g*

Crossposted from my journals and LJ comm:

Mill Creek to release Collecter's Edition of Wiseguy for $44.95. And it looks like it will be the complete series. Except.

They are NOT releasing the Dead Dog Arc, as they are not going to get the song rights for it, and they apparently figured they could not keep playing muzak every time Debbie Harry opens her mouth.

All of which is really maddening because it's cheap--I'd be happy to buy this set just to get the Lynchboro/Seattle arc alone--but DAMMIT, CANNEL!!!

I just did a post that was about five great uses of music in television, with the last one being the use of music in general in Wiseguy and the use of "Nights in White Satin," specifically, in "No One Gets Out of Here Alive." I think I've posted about this before, but if anyone's interested, you can find it here at my DW account.

I posted a link about Mill Creek picking up the distribution rights for Wiseguy on DVD recently. Well, this morning I saw the news that The Complete 1st Season will be out August 25. And a dirt-cheap rate of $14.98.

Since it is that cheap, I'm not expecting much on the extras or even the extras already made for the previous releases. But, frankly, I'm so happy to see any movement towards getting all the episodes out, I'll take what I can get, even if I would prefer the original music. Besides, I like that they're releasing them by full season, rather than arc and (very) random stand-alone episodes. I need "Call it Casabah", dammit!

Welcome to the Wiseguy community on Dreamwidth! Historically, the LJ comm has been a relatively low-traffic community with bursts of posting when people start re-watching episodes. Please feel free to post at any time with all things related to the television show Wiseguy: all comments on the episodes, characters, and fanfiction, as well as any news you think people should know are welcome.

Fanfiction recs, anyone?
